Sa mort inspire à son frère un texte vengeur sur l’aventure coloniale dont les conséquences négatives furent profondes dans le milieu littéraire belge, un drame qui lui fit par ailleurs écrire un roman posthume, Brigitte Austin, où il mêle leurs deux destins.
