Du Développement durable à la décroissance, aller et retour

Dans le contexte sociétal contemporain où les débats concernant les problèmes environnementaux tiennent une place significative, l'idée de décroissance rencontre un succès non négligeable et se présente comme une alternative séduisante à la croissance capitaliste effrénée, tenue pour principale responsable de ces problèmes. La rhétorique de la décroissance semble répondre au malaise que suscitent chez beaucoup la situation environnementale préoccupante, le néo-libéralisme tout puissant ou encore l'usage intempestif du concept de développement durable. Cependant, au-delà d’une rhétorique inspirante, il est important de questionner les présupposés et les conséquences du programme de la décroissance. Dans ce premier numéro des Carnets du développement durable, Stéphane Leyens et Charlotte Luyckx proposent une analyse critique de la décroissance afin de souligner sa portée véritable et ses limites.
