Elle répond au mandat du Cirad, qui en assure le financement et le fonctionnement, de faciliter et d'accompagner la publication des résultats de recherche forestière produits par de jeunes chercheurs du Sud. Elle privilégie dès lors une recherche collaborative appliquée associant le Nord et le Sud.
